Green Card

A United States (U.S.) A permanent Resident Card, or green card, is issued to a person approved to live and work in the U.S. There are federal laws for eligibility, and the application process must be followed closely. Application mistakes can delay the process for years. Attorney Samuel R. Randall can help you get permanent residency or get the right immigration solution for your situation.

Ways to get a Green Card

Through Family

If you have an immediate relative who is a U.S. citizen, he or she can petition for your permanent residence. The Petition for Alien Resident (Form I-130) can be submitted at the same time you submit the Application to Register Permanent Residence (Form I-485). Special priority for a green card is given to an immediate family member who is:

Other immediate family members might be eligible, but there is a yearly limit to the number of immigrants in this category allowed into the U.S. Permanent U.S. residents (green card holders) can also petition for qualified, immediate family members. Attorney Randall is an experienced immigration attorney who will review your case and help you determine if you or your family member are eligible for a green card.

• A spouse.

• An unmarried child under the age of 21.

• A parent of a U.S. citizen who is at least 21 years old.

Through Employment

There is a yearly limit on the number of immigrants eligible for a green card for employment reasons. Eligibility can be based on:

• A job offer for certain advanced skills for which there is a shortage in the U.S.

• An investment of at least $1,000,000 in a U.S. enterprise, or $500,000 in a rural or high-employment area

• Self-petition for extraordinary skill in arts, business, education, science, or athletics

• Special categories of workers who meet the requirements and apply during certain time frames

The qualifications for employment-based permanent residency are complex and very specific. If you are an employer or an employee, consult with an immigration attorney before you submit a petition for a worker or submit a request for permanent residency.
